Mr. Takumi Kitamura has been working for 17 years at Ryusen Hamono as a leader of the manufacturing department. He is responsible for forging, pressing and heat treatment, and works passionately every day on the production of knives and other items. Finally, he passed an examination and has now become a "Certified Master Craftsman" of Knives for the first time in 5 years in knife-producing area of Echizen Uchihamono (Echizen forged blades). We are very proud of his skill and hard work!!




The award ceremony was held at Chiyozuru-no-Yakata on Monday, March 3rd. Mr. Kitamura renewed his determination to "cherish the skills and spirit he has inherited, and work hard to promote the development of production area of Echizen Uchihamono."

We believe he was able to achieve such a big goal not only because of his great efforts, but also because of his master, "Mr. Masaji Shimizu" from SHIMIZU HAMONO, who was designated a "Certified Master Craftsman" and a "Contemporary Master Craftsman" as well. Mr. Shimizu has passed down his traditional master craftsmanship to our craftman Mr. Kitamura over the years. And 2 master craftsmen, "Mr. Nanbu" from NANSEI UCHIHAMONO and "Mr. Iwai" from KAJIKOUBOU IWAI also taught him important techniques for forging blades at their factories. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who has kindly supported and watched over him.

We will continue to maintain the traditional craftsmanship, and strive for creating high quality products from now on, and really look forward to our craftsmen's continued success.
