This product has been created in collaboration with the President of Tsuyuki Woodcraft Co., Ltd., Mr. Kiyokatsu Tsuyuki (traditional craftsperson), who made the furnishings of Hoshino Resorts Kai Hakone Signature Rooms ""Hakone Yosegi-no-ma,"" opening up new fields for Hakone Yosegi-zaiku. Created by combining the two traditional craft skills of Hakone Yosegi-zaiku and Echizen Uchihamono, this is an unprecedentedly beautiful product delivered to the world that has an elegance typical of Japan. At the Japan Traditional Craft Public Exhibition 2017, held by the Association for the Promotion of Traditional Craft Industries, the product received the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry Manufacturing Industries Bureau Director-General Award.
< Knife with Beauty and Versatility, Useful in Every Situation>
The blade is made of the super high-end cutting steel material Super Gold II. Excellent in terms of the four major properties of hardness, tenacity, wear resistance and corrosion resistance, this cutting steel material allows long-lasting sharpness of the knife. This highly adaptable knife, with a blade 100 mm long and a total length of 225 mm, is suitable for a wide range of uses, such as for cutting steak and other meat, cheese and ham, and for peeling and cutting fruit into decorative shapes.

Dating back to the end of the Edo Period, Hakone Yosegi-zaiku is the fruit of the craft techniques developed over 1,000 years and the rich nature of Hakone. Although Yosegi-zaiku is an art of expressing patterns, wood is a natural material, meaning that all the works differ from one another in terms of colors and the beauty of the wood grains. The handle comes in three types: ICHIMATSU, YABANE, and NIKUZUSHI. Please appreciate the beauty and superb texture of the delicately made handle.
